At Chickadee Speech Therapy, we believe in a child-centered, neurodiversity affirming approach to speech therapy. We support speech and language development while focusing on each child's enjoyment and overall well-being. We know how important it is to build positive, trusting relationships, and we prioritize respecting each child's autonomy, support needs, and preferences in every session.
We offer in-home, in the community, and online pediatric speech therapy services that build children's confidence. Our team supports caregivers by providing consultations, education, training, and counseling. We help you advocate for your child and navigate the school district IEP process, and we provide education on neurodiversity affirming language and practices. We support you through emotional times and help you create a secure, attuned relationship with your neurotypical or neurodivergent child.

Our comprehensive evaluation includes 90 minutes of testing, including a review of records, medical history, and clinical observation. We'll assess your child’s strengths and differences and will administer standardized tests when appropriate. We’ll provide a thorough written report and hold a caregiver consultation where we'll discuss whether or not speech therapy is needed for your child's development. We will discuss therapy goals and build a therapeutic support plan.
Therapy sessions are 30-40 minutes depending on each child's unique needs. Your child will be working with a neurodiversity affirming, trauma-informed speech language pathologist. Therapy is child-led, play-based, and includes a quick caregiver check in. We prioritize maintaining your child's sensory and emotional regulation while targeting their communication goals. Sessions are offered online throughout California, in your home, and in the San Francisco and northern peninsula communities.
We're here to answer your questions, provide education, offer second opinions, and share helpful tips for supporting your child's communication development. We discuss your child's strengths, support needs, and the next steps in your child's therapy journey. 40 min online sessions.
Navigating your child's diagnosis can feel be a confusing process. Many caregivers have expressed their need for additional support throughout their journey as support needs parents. In these sessions, our Certified Trauma-Informed therapist validates your experience, holds space for your emotions, helps you develop an attuned child-caregiver connection, and educates you on attachment theory and Neurodiversity Affirming practices. 40 min online sessions.
Education and Training for caregivers with children ages 0-3 years. The first three years of life are the most critical years for the development of communication. You will learn language stimulation techniques, how to apply them in everyday activities, and how to transform your home into a language-facilitating environment for your child. 40 min online sessions.
We help families navigate the complex process of obtaining and maintaining an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) through your child's school district. This includes educating you on your child's rights, your rights as caregivers, and legal deadlines. We review IEP paperwork, including goals, benchmarks, services, and accommodations. We help you advocate for school services that best support your child's development, independence, and overall well-being. 40 min online sessions.
“I have nothing but amazing words for Gina’s capabilities as a speech therapist and also as a mentor for both my husband and me. She has been an incredible partner to help guide my daughter’s speech from the 16% percentile to now outperforming her age group. Gina made every session a true pleasure for our whole family – one where “going to the therapist” was fun for everyone! Not only did she provide us with new skills to help my daughter practice speaking through play, but she also helped evaluate her environment and was instrumental to getting our daycare to adopt new masks for my daughter’s class, that have a window in them. The window obviously allows the kids to see the words that the teachers are saying. Without Gina’s careful evaluation and understanding, I don’t think that we would have made the progress that we made. She was completely instrumental to the improvements in my daughter’s speech. Gina had such enthusiasm, passion, and deep understanding of her area that I would recommend her to every child who needs help." - Family of I.
“Gina’s trauma-informed approach created a safe and supportive experience for all of us. Our family felt lost after receiving our son’s autism diagnosis, but Gina guided us through what that meant and what types of supports he may need. She helped us make informed decisions about neuroaffirming therapies and helped us apply to support programs. She prioritized maintaining our son’s regulation in sessions by paying attention to his sensory dysregulation cues, following his lead, and supporting his special interests. Gina also provided monthly caregiver counseling where she helped us reframe our entire outlook on autism. Thanks to Gina’s trauma-informed and neuroaffirming practices, we can consciously raise our child in a way that celebrates his differences and empowers him.” - Family of A.
“We feel fortunate we were able to have Gina as our son’s speech therapist. Words cannot express how grateful we are for her and the difference she made for our son and his future. I was certain he would improve, but nowhere near as fast as he was able to grow with Gina. His confidence, self-esteem, and school performance have skyrocketed and that is all thanks to Gina and her gentle, compassionate approach that made our son so comfortable and be able to thrive!” - Family of A.
“Gina is truly a rare find. We were nervous about getting our son assessed for speech, but Gina immediately put our minds at ease. She was very patient, thorough, and made us, especially our son, very comfortable. She was wonderful, and we were so excited to work with her! Our son saw Gina for two years before he “graduated” speech, and Gina was so good about giving us updates and discussing progress, benchmarks, and goals throughout that time. We’ve recommended her to other families and have only heard good things. She has strong professional and therapeutic skills, and she is someone who families and children genuinely enjoy working with. We 100% highly recommend Gina to any family.” - Family of L.
“Gina always went above and beyond for our daughter. The level of verbal communication that my daughter had when we began therapy versus now is like night and day. Being able to communicate much more effectively with my daughter has made a dramatic and positive improvement in our entire family’s life, and we’re all much happier. From the beginning, Gina and my daughter had a great relationship, and she always looked forward to her therapy sessions with Gina each and every week. Gina’s patience and steady progress with my daughter is greatly appreciated, and my wife and I are very thankful for Gina’s expertise and intuitive way of working with children. I would without hesitation recommend Gina to any other parents looking into speech therapy for their children.” - Family of K.
“We had a wonderful experience working with Gina. After working with Gina for only four months, my son no longer had any sort of speech delay. I found each session to be helpful and productive, whether it was in-person or online. My son looked forward to his sessions every Thursday and would talk about Gina throughout the week! Gina was not only an exceptional therapist to my son, but also to me. She was positive, assuring, and very easy to work with during the difficult time of the pandemic. I lucked out finding and working with such a bright and nurturing speech therapist for my son and our family.” - Family of H.
